AFSCME Florida Statement on Recertification Wins in City of Pinellas Park
Pinellas Park – Yesterday, the hardworking men and women represented by AFSCME in the City of Pinellas Park voted unanimously to recertify their union. AFSCME Local 762, representing the public service workers for the City, and AFSCME Local 762A, representing the Pinellas Park Water Management District, will continue to ensure these dedicated workers have a protected voice in the services they deliver.
AFSCME Area Field Services Director James Spears, Jr. released the following statement:
“These resounding victories prove that the people who make the City of Pinellas Park happen clearly want a union. They want a voice in the services they provide. They want safe working conditions, the right to earn a decent paycheck, fair treatment on the job and so much more. They want their rights and freedoms honored on the job.
“Most importantly, they want and deserve the respect and dignity a contract brings with it. A strong contract is about the fair jobs it delivers so these recertification victories will be felt by the community through continued strong services that are guided by hard work and results.”
