Take Action

Why Join?

  • Do you want to build a better and more secure economic future for you and your family?
  • Are you hurting from a lack of quality, affordable healthcare coverage?
  • Have you ever been unfairly disciplined by your supervisor or forced to accept a demotion, suspension or other punishment you didn’t deserve?

If you answered yes to any of these questions it’s time to consider forming a union with AFSCME. With more than 1.6 million active and retired members nationwide, AFSCME is the strongest and most respected public services union in the country.

We consistently fight for and secure the best wages, benefits and working conditions for our members. Since so much of public service workers’ rights, benefits and funding are impacted by the actions of elected officials, we maintain a strong presence in the corridors of government, fighting to protect our members and holding politicians accountable for their actions. We stand ready to do the same for you and your colleagues.

Get in touch with us to have a preliminary conversation and to learn more. All conversations are strictly confidential and you will not be pressured to move forward until you are ready.

Connecting with AFSCME members who share the same job – and the same passion for it – has never been easier. With AFSCME Facebook groups, you can be a part of a conversation where dedicated professionals from across the country swap stories, celebrate victories and gear up for future battles.

By joining one (or more) of the AFSCME Facebook groups, you’ll be able to stay connected with other AFSCME members who know what it takes to get the job done and who never quit on their communities.

Right now, 70 of your fellow Miami-Dade County coworkers are facing the real possibility that they could be out of a job in just a few weeks. That is because the Clerk of Courts is facing a budget crisis and, unless the Mayor and County Commission find a budgetary solution, front counter services at locations around the county and the workers who provide those services will disappear.

We need your help to save their jobs by calling the Mayor and County Commission and asking them to help Clerk of Courts Harvey Ruvin fix this problem today!

Senator Nelson has strongly opposed stripping away coverage for 32 million American, doubling the cost of premiums and wrecking our health care safety net. We thank him for his work and we know he will continue to be our voice in the Senate no matter what they bring up next.

We may be one big union, but that doesn’t mean we’re all the same. We’ve created custom newsletters so you can get the news and info you want. Choose below to sign up for the newsletters that are right for you! Pick all or one. (And don’t worry, you can change your subscriptions any time).
