Local 199 Spreads the Love with Holiday Toy Drive

AFSCME is a Union that is dedicated to public service, both in and outside of the workplace. We embody that dedication at Local 199 with the work we do in our communities. This holiday season, Local 199 in collaboration with WJFP 91.1 FM, and Lady Migos Entertainment hosted our first annual Toy Drive for underprivileged children and families in Fort Pierce. The event brought together over 100 children and adults receiving gifts, and charity during these challenging economic times.
This event was particularly important for families who have been financially impacted by the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. "For many families, this event was what made Christmas possible." said AFSCME Local 199 President CeeCee Brown.
"This pandemic has caused more uncertainty and hardship for communities who already have trouble making ends meet." said President Brown. "I'm honored to be the President of a local that not only shares the same passion I do for public service but also leads with an Executive Board that shares that same vision and desire to help people."
The annual Toy Drive was dedicated to Baby Brielle, a one year old child who tragically drowned last year in her family's swimming pool.
